Community Guidelines
- Version: 2026-10-16.3
- These guidelines are available in Chinese, Japanese, English and Korean. If the versions differ, the Chinese version prevails, unless mandatory law where you live says otherwise.
VRChat Match is a community for finding like-minded people, exploring worlds together and talking with people who share your interests. We want everyone here to feel relaxed and be treated well. These rules apply to everything on the site, including posts, comments, messages, events, worlds, reviews, relationship diagrams and Disputes. They form part of the Terms of Service.
1. Respect others, no pile-ons
It's fine to disagree. Talk about the issue, not the person.
- OK: "I'm not a fan of the lighting in this world."
- Not OK: insulting people, mocking their looks or accent, or threatening them; attacking anyone over their gender, sexual orientation, nationality, ethnicity, religion, disability or similar.
- Not OK: rallying others to go after someone; using another account to keep contacting someone after they have said no or blocked you.
2. Safety and privacy
- Not OK: sharing someone's real-world identity, such as their real name, photos, school, workplace, address, phone number or accounts on other platforms.
- Not OK: sharing someone's private photos, videos or chat screenshots without their consent.
- Not OK: sending sexual content, or harassing or threatening others, when talking with people.
- Not OK: asking anyone under 18 for photos, sending them sexual content, or arranging to meet them alone in person.
- If someone's personal safety may be at risk, contact your local police first, then report it to us.
3. No sexual content
- OK: normal screenshots of avatars in swimwear or stylish, sexy outfits.
- Not OK: visible nipples or genitals; sexual acts or clearly sexual poses, gestures or text.
- Not OK: gore, abuse or other disturbing images.
If you're not sure whether something is OK, don't post it.
4. Sharing experiences with others
If something bad happened, you can talk about it and let people know. Please describe it as objectively and truthfully as you can, without exaggerating or making things up.
- OK: describing what happened to you and including the other person's VRChat username. That way, friends who know them can add their side of the story, and others can keep it in mind.
- Not OK: including their real-world identity (see section 2).
- Not OK: making things up or exaggerating, using it to attack them personally, or encouraging others to cause them trouble.
- Not OK: saying someone broke the law or committed a crime without evidence. If that happens, report it to us or to the police.
The person mentioned can reply in the comments, and anyone who thinks the post is untrue can report it.
You can also open a case in Disputes in the toolbox, where both sides and everyone else can comment and vote. The same rules apply: you can include VRChat usernames, but not real-world identity; describe things truthfully; don't attack people personally or encourage others to cause them trouble. The vote only shows what people think. It isn't the site's judgment, and no one is penalized because of it. If someone really breaks these guidelines, please report it and an admin will handle it.
5. Creations and copyright
- OK: sharing avatars, worlds, photos and videos you made.
- To repost someone else's work, first get the creator's permission (or make sure the work allows reposting), and credit the creator and source. Crediting the source alone is not permission.
- Not OK: sharing, promoting or selling ripped avatars, or reselling other people's work.
- Not OK: sharing crasher avatars, malicious files or dangerous links.
6. Promoting your work and commissions
- OK: introducing your own work in posts, or taking commissions such as custom avatars.
- Not OK: posting the same thing several times a day, mass-messaging strangers to sell something, or posting unrelated links to drive traffic elsewhere.
- Judge the risks of any deal yourself. The Platform is not part of any transaction and gives no guarantees.
7. Play fair
- Not OK: inflating scores, votes or likes; using multiple accounts to manipulate recommendations, ratings or rankings.
- One person, one account.
8. Topics
You can talk about anything, including current affairs, politics and religion. But please follow local laws, and don't use a topic to attack people, post hate speech or spam.
9. How we review content
- Content that is reported is reviewed by an administrator.
- Administrators also spot-check public content from time to time (posts, comments, events, worlds, reviews and relationship diagrams).
- Private messages are only looked at when they are reported: usually just the reported message and up to 20 messages before and after it in the same conversation. In cases involving a threat to someone's safety, the safety of a minor, a hijacked account or a lawful investigation, the whole conversation may be viewed. Every view is recorded.
10. What happens if you break the guidelines
Depending on how serious it is, we may remind you, remove content, suspend your account for 7 or 30 days (it is restored automatically afterwards), or ban it permanently. You will get an on-site notification saying what we did and which guideline was broken. Where the law requires, we may provide necessary information to the relevant authorities.
If you think we got it wrong, email admin@vrchatmatch.com with your account and what happened.
11. How to report
Posts, comments, users, events, worlds, messages, reviews and relationship diagrams all have a "Report" button. Pick the closest reason and add a few words of detail to help us act faster. We never tell the other person who reported them.
We will update these guidelines as the community grows and note any changes on this page.
